Great question — and here's why appointments matter.
Because every guitar is different, I need to see and assess your instrument in person before I can confirm whether a repair is feasible or worth doing — especially in cases like neck resets or structural damage on budget models, where the cost of the repair might outweigh the value of the guitar.
Also, I’m a one-person shop, and I work a day job alongside doing guitar repairs and setups. Booking appointments allows me to give each player the time and focus they deserve, instead of rushing drop-offs or missing important details.
During your appointment, we’ll:
Walk through the issue together
Discuss your goals and playability preferences
Cover what’s realistically possible with the instrument
Make sure you feel confident before any work begins
No pressure — just honest advice and a plan that fits your needs.

The appointment fee exists because I set aside dedicated time to meet with each customer. That’s time I’m not spending repairing or setting up other instruments. Unfortunately, I’ve had a lot of no-shows in the past, which takes away from others who could’ve used that slot.
Also, I get quite a few folks just looking for free advice or evaluations — and while I’m always happy to talk guitars, these sessions often turn into full consultations. The appointment fee helps make sure I can give focused, quality time to serious players who value what I do.
The good news? If we move forward with a repair, that fee gets applied to the job — so it’s not extra, just part of making sure your guitar gets the attention it deserves.
-
I’ve built some after-work and weekend drop-off options into my appointment scheduler to make things easier for folks with busy schedules. That said, if nothing on the calendar works for you, feel free to reach out — I’m always willing to work with you to find a time that makes sense.
My goal is to make sure you can get your instrument in without stress, while still giving every guitar the attention it deserves.
-
Yes — I work on electric and acoustic guitars, as well as basses.
If you’ve got something a little out of the ordinary (like a baritone, travel guitar, or something vintage or modded), just reach out. I’ll let you know if it’s something I take on.
-
I charge an hourly rate of $70, and most standard setups take about an hour — but it really depends on the guitar, its condition, and what you’re looking to have done.
Every instrument is a little different, and unexpected things can come up once I get hands-on. Because of that, I don’t offer fixed quotes — I want to make sure you're only paying for the time your guitar actually needs, not a cookie-cutter price.
You can check out a full list of services on my website, but if you're unsure, feel free to book an appointment and we’ll go over everything together before any work starts.

Yes — I absolutely offer string changes, and I also provide one-on-one tutorials if you'd like to learn how to do it yourself.
If you're just looking for a string change, most jobs are billed at $35 (that’s half of my $70/hr rate), since they usually take less than 30 minutes. That said, some guitars — especially those with locking tremolos or floating bridges — can take longer depending on complexity.
If you’re interested in learning, I’m happy to walk you through the process during the appointment so you can confidently do it on your own next time. For tutorial sessions, standard hourly rates apply.
Either way, I’ve got you covered.

The turnaround time depends on a few key factors — like the complexity of the repair or service, and how many instruments are currently ahead of yours in the queue.
Typically, you can expect your guitar to be with me for at least 7 to 10 days, but it could take longer depending on what's needed.
🎸 Pro tip for acoustic players: If you're bringing in an acoustic guitar, make sure it's properly humidified (ideally between 45–55% relative humidity). If the guitar is under-humidified, I’ll need to stabilize it before any work can safely begin — working on a dry guitar risks cracking or other damage. This can extend the turnaround time.
If you’re ever unsure, just ask — I’m happy to give you an estimate based on the current shop load and the type of service you need.

Yes — pickup and delivery is available, especially for customers outside Maricopa.
I understand that driving out to Maricopa can be a hassle, so I do offer pickup/drop-off in the Chandler area and possibly beyond, depending on your location and my availability (typically evenings). I also occasionally do on-location appointments when it makes sense.
🚗 I’m fully insured to transport your instrument, so your gear is protected during transit.
If you're not based in Maricopa, just reach out with your location, and I’ll let you know if I can accommodate a pickup or delivery for your repair or setup.
-
Yes I do repair broken necks and headstocks. Whether it’s a clean break or a more complex crack (like on a Gibson-style angled headstock), I’ll assess the damage and let you know what can be done. In many cases, a properly repaired neck can be structurally stronger than it was before the break.
That said, not every repair is worth doing — especially on lower-cost instruments — so I’ll always walk you through your options before any work begins.
🛠️ If you’re dealing with a neck or headstock break, I recommend booking an appointment as soon as possible and not stringing up or trying to glue it yourself, as that can make the repair more difficult (and more expensive) down the line.
-
I cover Maricopa city, Casa Grande into Chandler, parts of Gilbert and Tempe. If in doubt shoot me an email or give us a call.
-
Yes — I offer a full range of fretwork services, including fret leveling, crowning, polishing, and full or partial refrets.
Whether you’re dealing with fret buzz, worn-down frets, dead notes, or just want smoother playability, I’ll assess your guitar and recommend what’s best. Sometimes a light leveling and polish is all it needs — in other cases, a full refret is the right move.
🪛 I work on both electric and acoustic guitars, using quality fretwire — including nickel-silver and stainless steel. Just a heads-up: stainless steel fretwork costs more, since it’s harder on tools and takes more time to work with. But it’s also incredibly durable, and a great long-term upgrade if you're hard on your frets.
If you're unsure what your guitar needs, book an appointment and I’ll walk you through the options in person.
-
Yes — I can definitely help with fret buzz. There are a number of things that can cause it, including uneven frets, low action, neck relief issues, or even worn fretwire.
The first step is to inspect your guitar to figure out why it’s buzzing — it might just need a truss rod adjustment or setup, or it could require fret leveling or fretwork if the wear is more advanced.
Whatever the cause, I’ll walk you through the diagnosis and what it’ll take to get your guitar playing clean again.
🎸 Whether it's light buzzing or something more serious, book an appointment and we’ll get your guitar dialed in.
-
Yes — I handle guitar electronics repair and upgrades, including things like rewiring, jack replacements, switch installs, pot swaps, shielding, and more.
With a background in electrical engineering, I’m equipped to work on just about any type of guitar electronics — from basic soldering jobs to more complex troubleshooting or custom wiring setups. I also wind my own pickups, so if you're looking for custom tones or need help dialing in your signal path, I’ve got you covered.
Whether it's a noisy jack, a dead pickup, or a full electronic overhaul, I’ll make sure your guitar sounds and functions exactly how it should.

Yes — I do work on vintage guitars, but there are some important limitations due to insurance coverage and shop capacity.
I currently accept vintage instruments that are valued under $10,000, and I may limit intake depending on how many other guitars are in the shop at the time. This is to ensure proper coverage and security for every instrument in my care.
🔎 What counts as vintage?
Generally, guitars built 25 years ago or earlier are considered vintage — but that doesn’t always mean they’re ultra-valuable. Some vintage guitars are worth a few hundred dollars, while others can go well into the tens of thousands, depending on brand, model, condition, and provenance. If you have a vintage instrument you're considering bringing in, just reach out with the details. I’ll let you know if I can take it on based on current shop load and coverage limits.

Yes — I can definitely set up your guitar for drop tuning, whether it’s Drop D, Drop C, Drop B, or even lower.
Setting up for alternate tunings involves more than just changing the strings — I’ll look at neck relief, action, intonation, nut slot depth, and help you choose the right string gauge to keep everything stable and playable.
Whether you're playing metal, doom, prog, or just want tighter low-end, I can dial in your setup to match your tuning style and playing feel.
🎸 Bring in your tuning preference and I’ll make sure your guitar plays clean, stays in tune, and feels right under your fingers.
-
Yes — I install both guitar bridges and nuts, whether you're replacing a broken part, upgrading materials, or improving tuning stability and tone.
🔧 For nuts, I can install bone, synthetic, brass, or graphite depending on your preference and playing style. Each nut is hand-fit and properly slotted to match your string gauge and setup specs.
🪛 For bridges, I handle everything from acoustic bridge reglues or replacements to electric guitar upgrades, including Tune-O-Matic, hardtail, Strat-style, and tremolo systems. I’ll make sure it’s seated correctly, intonated, and fully dialed in.
If you're unsure what kind of replacement your guitar needs, just bring it in — I’ll walk you through your options and get it playing right.
-
Yes — I do pickup upgrades and installations for both electric guitars and basses.
Whether you’re swapping out stock pickups for something with more clarity, punch, warmth, or output, I can help you choose the right set and handle the install with clean, professional wiring.
I work with all major brands — Seymour Duncan, DiMarzio, EMG, Lollar, Fralin, Fishman, and more — and I also wind my own custom pickups, if you're after a unique tone or vintage-inspired voice.
From single-coil to humbucker swaps, active conversions, coil-splitting setups, or matching pickups to your style, I’ll make sure your upgrade sounds great and is wired right the first time.
-
Yes — I absolutely work on guitars for beginners!
Whether it's your first guitar or something you picked up secondhand, I can help get it playing comfortably and sounding right — which makes learning way easier and more fun.
If you're just starting out and the work you need is something you could learn to do yourself later (like string changes or basic adjustments), I'm happy to walk you through the process one-on-one during your appointment. That way, you’ll build confidence in both your playing and your gear maintenance.
No judgment, no upsell — just honest help to get you started the right way.

It depends on what your guitar needs — every repair is different.
I charge an hourly rate of $70, and many common jobs (like setups or minor fixes) can be done in about an hour. But more involved work — like fretwork, electronics repair, or structural fixes — may take longer.
Because every guitar is unique, I don’t give firm quotes without seeing the instrument first. What seems like a simple issue could be part of a deeper problem, and I want to make sure you're only paying for what actually needs to be done.
💡 Pro tip: If you’re not sure what your guitar needs, book an appointment — I’ll walk you through the issue and give you a breakdown before any work starts.
